NEW LAW REGARDING HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMAS AND CAHSEE

Passage of SB 725 and SB 172 confirm discontinuation of the CAHSEE and authorize issuing of diplomas for those students who had not passed one or both of the exams in previous years.

1. Students who completed the 12th grade in the 2014/15 school year and met ALL other requirements except passing the CAHSEE:
High Schools may issue a diploma immediately.

2. Students who completed the 12th grade during the 2003/04 through the 2013/14 school years and met ALL other requirements except passing the 

High Schools may begin issuing these diplomas on January 1, 2016.
